About me

DSC_0764.jpg

I'm currently a stay at home mom with three children, two of whom are in the 27J district. My youngest is on an FLP for speech, and we are expecting he will soon be a student within the district when his services transfer to an IEP. My oldest two play softball and baseball in Brighton. My husband and I have been married for 10 years, and we are both incredibly grateful to be raising our children in a forward moving district.

I have B.S. in Marketing with an emphasis in Professional Sales from Northern Illinois University. Prior to making the choice to stay at home with my children, I worked for Travelers Insurance as a small commercial business underwriter.

I have been actively involved in our school since my children began attending. I started volunteering through PTO opportunities, fundraising, classroom needs, library assistance, and anything our principal could think of where I could help.

Our second year looked drastically different because of Covid restrictions on campus – but I still found ways to help our school out. I made hundreds of masks and mask holders for our teachers to help support them with the recommended layers of protection. I assembled classroom packets when we had to go remote, so our teachers didn’t have to stay up late spending family hours preparing for the quick pivot. When we had the incredible snowfall that caused delays and literally prevented some doors from opening, I took my shovel up to the school to help move the mountains of snow for our students’ safe passage to and from campus.

In the spring of 2021, I was nominated by staff and honored by the Board of Education to be a recipient of a Reaching In Award for my volunteer efforts at our school. At the end of last year, in an effort to get more involved, I ran for and was elected to be the Secretary of our PTA. Since taking on my new role with the PTA, I have created a monthly newsletter to help keep teachers and families connected with PTA happenings. I’m also currently working on a website to ensure our PTA is accessible to everyone. I’ve also helped to plan and will help execute our annual fundraiser, Rush, which helps deliver funding directly to our school.

I look forward to representing our community's voice serving as your next School Board Director!
